Do you want to work with some of the best developers in the world? Do you have what it takes to build and grow relationships with external partners and help them excel? Studio Rx in MGS-Publishing, the same studio that released Fable, Rise of Nations, and Project Gotham Racing is looking for a strong Design Director who has the right balance of Design leadership, creative ability, and technical skills to work in an exciting Publishing Studio.
Primary responsibilities include working with external development partners to ensure that the:
1. The product vision is clear 2. The final product quality meets expectations of first party titles 3. The game design pushes its genre forward into new and uncharted territory
In short, your job as a Design Director within MGS-Publishing is to support our experienced development partner's creative vision and to ensure they can do the best work possible. A Design Director will also need to demonstrate the ability to bring innovative and creative design ideas to the group or product on an as-needed basis.
Candidates must have proven production experience in the game industry, preferably in a senior or lead role on multiple shipped titles.
Given that the position will work closely with our external partners, travel is required.
Required:
7+ years game design lead experience including design experience on multiple shipped products
Strong technical skills and a basic understanding of programming
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Experienced relationship management skills
Passion for console and PC games and good gameplay instincts
Ability to produce articulate design documentation detailing innovative gameplay mechanics, character biographies, control systems, interface design, story lines and asset inventories.
Willing to accept and provide direction, work well under pressure, and handle multiple tasks
Ability to work closely with artists, animators and producers
Preferred:
Xbox Live! Experience or Network game design experience
Console experience
Knowledge of Maya/Photoshop
Microsoft Entertainment & Devices
