This is the senior GUI development position in a team of developers dedicated to ongoing development and support of the XA/21 Energy Managment product, a critical system that monitors the transmission grid. This person will be located in Melbourne, FL.

* Contribute to the design of GUI applications as specified by the requirements with a focus on real-time, reliable, cost-effective and maintainable solutions.

* Implement and test approved GUI designs.

* Collaborate with QA to develop and execute detailed test plans.

* Support QA during product verification and system integration.

* Support project execution for product deployment and support.

* Manage and maintain XA/21 GUI source code and development systems.

* Proactively make recommendations to improve product robustness, performance, usability and maintainability of product.

* Review and update product documentation and user manuals.

* Ensure accuracy of implementation and timeliness of delivered assignments.

* Provide technical leadership for development in the GUI.

* Work closely with other members of the team to guarantee complete integration and support to assure product's integrity and safety.

Qualifications

* Bachelors Degree or higher in Computer Science/Engineering or similar engineering discipline.

A minimum of 3-5 years of UI software development experience is required, in addition to the following:

* Experience in the following areas:

o Java Servlets or other server-side development in Java.

o Apache Tomcat.

o Programming Java in UNIX, Linux and Windows environments.

o Web applications and Web services.

o Multi-user 3-Tier architecture.

o Active directory and single sign on solutions.

* Developing secure applications.

* Detailed knowledge of Object Oriented programming and design.

* Proven experience developing UIs for highly reliable, real-time systems.

* Proven experience in writing requirements specifications, detailed design documents and associated test plans for embedded UI applications.

* Well-developed problem solving skills with proven ability for root-cause analysis.

* Resourceful self-starter with demonstrated proactive work style; willing to take ownership of difficult issues and show persistence in resolving them.

* Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (candidate will communicate with remote team by phone and email).

Desired

* Experience coaching and mentoring other software developers.

* Experience in Java Swing.

* Rational tools such as RequisitePro, ClearQuest, and Rose.

* Experience with installation tools such as InstallShield.

* Knowledge of configuration management and version control systems such as ClearCase.

* Knowledge of SCADA or other control systems.

* Experience working in an ISO certified environment.

* Experience using a standard modeling language such as UML.

* Experience in data modeling (including conceptual, logical, and physical models) for mid to large software development projects.

* Knowledge of Windows security, SSL, digital certificates, smartcards, etc.

* Documentation management systems.

* Backup/restore and recovery system.

* Knowledge of 6 Sigma, Lean, or other quality programs.
